Another Era Ends

With Annmarie making the cheer squad, we were already very much leaning toward her quitting gymnastics.  The day after her meet, we got a text message from the gym telling us that they had fired her coach, effective immediately.  We were not given a reason why.  My guess is that the girls (Annmarie and Mackenzie) were not putting up high enough scores.  We felt that Jazz was doing a great job working with Annmarie.  Annmarie loved going to gymnastics and competing.  After all that had happened in the fall with her coaches and them raising the rates of the tuition, we made the final decision that minute to have her be done.  

About a month previous to all of this, the team had pictures.  I never understood why they didn't do pictures in the fall so they would have the current season hanging in the gym.  These are the professional pictures from Annmarie's last season.

Surprise Surgery

The end of April came with preparations for the upcoming wedding.  Westley and Alejandra came into town and things got busy.  An added event was that Caleb ended up in the hospital with appendicitis and needed his appendix out.  He went in for surgery the morning of the 28th, the week of Westley's wedding.  The mission president and senior missionaries have taken great care of him though.

Regionals Meet in Kansas

Annmarie's final Level 7 Meet was in Kansas. She made it to Regionals and was able to compete. She got her best score on vault for the season, 9.225. Floor and beam were pretty typical, high 8/low 9. Her bars was devastating to her. It was her last event and her last competition of the season and she fell twice. She did score 8.375, which was good considering the falls. Sadly, she did not even place in the All Around, which was pretty disappointing.  

We're pretty sure this meet is her last one. She tried out last month for cheerleading and made the squad for junior high.  She has been so tough through all of the gymnastics, facing burnout and injuries and even a mental block.  But she powered through and overcame.  

 

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday was good. We didn't get new dresses/skirts or ties for Easter, but we wore the new dresses and ties that we would be wearing in a couple of week for Westley and Alejandra's wedding.

We dyed eggs on Easter Sunday instead of the day before.  I also spent a few weeks preparing a special Easter gift for all the kids (and sent one to Caleb too on his mission) of "Easter in Eggs" where each plastic egg contains some symbol of Easter.  We had our usual Resurrection Rolls and went to church.  We had lamb for dinner with Grandpa and Grandma.  Happy Easter!

 

Post Wedding

Our drive home from Utah was uneventful. We left Sunday morning and drove to Moriarty New Mexico where we stayed the night. We stopped there so we could get home earlier, as Nathan had a baseball game that night that we didn't want him to miss and also so Annmarie could go to gymnastics, since she had a meet coming up the last weekend in April. Corey had to take Willy to get his rabies shot and other vaccines, and took a picture of Willy curled up on the floor of the car. Travis asked his girlfriend Allison to the high school prom and Annmarie went along for the ride.

 

Wedding Day!

Saturday was Leah and Ethan's wedding up at the Logan Temple.  Corey and I went to the sealing and the kids waited in the waiting room and then we were all there for pictures.  After pictures, we went to In-N-Out for lunch and walked around Utah State Campus a little bit.  Then we went to the dinner and reception at a nearby farm.  It was so nice to see so many people and just be in beautiful Utah.  Beth, Noelle, and Andy came and so did Westley and Alejandra.  It was nice to see Jordan's kids and to see Andrea.  I love family weddings!  Welcome to the extended Fowles Family, Ethan Tenney!

Utah, Day Three

On our third day in Utah, we spent it in Provo.  In the morning, Corey took the kids to the Timpanogos Temple for baptisms and I met up with my friend from Bingham, Emily (Barton) Stout for breakfast at a Kneaders in Lindon. We went to BYU campus and spent time at the art museum, the Bean Museum, the creamery and the Wilkinson Center/BYU Bookstore.  Corey and I also went to a ballroom dance concert with John and Allison that night in the Marriott Center, which was really cool.
