Legoland Travis and Dad

When our kids turn eight, they get to take a trip with one of us to either Legoland or Sea World (or somewhere else now that we are in Texas). Travis turned eight in September and he chose Legoland.  We managed to squeeze in a trip to Legoland before moving to Texas.  I had enough points on my credit card to buy plane tickets and Corey and Travis went down to San Diego the third week in October.  It was a complete surprise to Travis.  He knew that he had picked Legoland for a trip and knew he would be going, but didn't know when we would be able to do it.

Here are pictures from his trip:  (P.S.  He had broken his glasses just before the trip and the new ones didn't come for a few weeks.)

Swimming in Idaho Falls

One thing we made sure of on our little trip to Idaho Falls was to find a hotel with an indoor swimming pool. After driving around Idaho Falls and showing the kids the town and stopping at the temple for pictures, we went back to the hotel pool and went swimming. Annmarie kept trying to throw herself into the pool and spa and the other kids enjoyed the swimming. It really was a great time.

Caleb's 10th Birthday

Our little trip to Idaho Falls happened to coincide with Caleb's 10th birthday. We went out to dinner at a pizza place because he had requested pizza for his birthday dinner. We stayed in a hotel that night and bought some eclairs from a nearby store to eat as his birthday treat, then watched TV until bedtime.

Idaho Falls Visit

We took the chance during the fall break from school to take the kids to see Idaho Falls, where Westley was born. This is a picture of Westley in front of the hospital where he spent nearly two weeks as a preemie 11 years and 5 months ago.

Since our Utah Temple Tour last year, we now take the opportunity to take a picture with any temple, so of course we had to take pictures of the family in front of the Idaho Falls Temple.

Pinewood Derby

Travis got into cub scouts right away.  His birthday was on the same day as the September pack meeting, which was also the Arrow of Light ceremony for Westley.  Then a few weeks later, it was the Pinewood Derby.  Corey made Travis' car look like a Mario cart and Caleb wanted Bumblebee from Transformers.  They had fun racing the cars, even though the cars were often near last place (or in last place).  But neither one of them finished dead last this year, so Corey's car-making skills are improving.

Moving to Texas

In September, In-N-Out announced some store openings in the Dallas area.  We had always talked about eventually moving to Texas, so when this opportunity came up, even though it seemed like bad timing (to me), we decided to go for it so we would have no regrets.  I truthfully did not expect them to give him the store, but they did and we are moving to Texas!

Travis' Baptism

We had Travis' baptism a couple weeks after his birthday. The first Saturday of October after his birthday was General Conference, so we had to wait until the next Saturday. He was baptized with three other kids from the ward. We had a lot of family there and it was great!

Travis was so excited to be baptized.  He was positively glowing.
