More Snow!

We had two snow days in one week! I sort of wish I hadn't gotten rid of all the snow boots, pants and gloves before leaving Utah. At least we still had our heavy coats and hats. I wrapped the younger kids' feet in plastic bags to keep them dry. The older boys went around offering to shovel snow for money because, randomly, I did keep the snow shovel.

Snow Day!

I grew up near this part of Texas and only remember having snow maybe once. I remember an ice storm too. So it was a nice surprise to have a snow day shortly after school starting up here for the kids to give them a little break.  As you can see, not a lot of snow on the ground, but here, where snow is an anomaly and not the norm, everything shuts down because people really don't know how to drive in it.  So no school!

We made some sugar cookies on the snow day.

The kids put together a rodeo.  Random, I know, but still fun.  They had a clown, a bull, a bucking bronco, a cowboy, and an announcer.  And Annmarie was a spectator.

At least they got creative to pass the time on that surprise day off of school!

In-N-Out Kickoff Dinner

A nice break from the mundane was a trip to California for the In-N-Out Kickoff Dinner. I was so sick with a bad cold though, that is was kind of miserable. But it's always fun to get dressed up and eat a lot of good food and stay in a nice hotel.

Happy Valentine's Day!

For Valentine's Day, we had heart-shaped pancakes for breakfast and heart-shaped pizza for dinner. That's about as creative as I got. No other fun celebrations around here.

Heard Museum With Cousins

We decided to use our Heard Museum membership and go with our cousins during the day while the older kids were at school.
The kids enjoyed playing in the sand area, digging for dinosaurs.

The dinosaur exhibit was still up, and the kids enjoyed seeing them.

Wild Weekend

We couldn't decide what kind of pancakes to make Saturday morning, so we made three different kinds: blueberry, cinnamon, and chocolate chip. The overall favorite were the chocolate chip. Cinnamon was the least liked, but that's because I pretty much devoured the blueberry myself.

Westley injured himself playing with the others on Sunday.  He hurt his foot and was whining so much that I finally just decided to take him to urgent care.  It was badly bruised, and the x-ray indicated there might be a problem with the growth plate, so he was referred to an orthopedic specialist.  It turned out to be nothing but a bad bruise, but he did have trouble walking for a few days.

Belated Gingerbread

We didn't get around to doing gingerbread at Christmas because we were moving. I bought this gingerbread train set from the Christmas clearance so we decided that since it is now February, we should probably decorate some gingerbread. Still fun, even when it is more than a month late!
