Winter Formal

Westley decided to go to Winter Formal, which happened on the night of Nathan's birthday.  He took Lydia Shumard, a girl from our ward.  They are pretty good friends and it looked like they had a good time.

Nathan's Birthday

Nathan got to celebrate a real birthday this year! He was born on Leap Day in 2016, so he hasn't had an actual birthday until now, 2020. He was born on a Monday and Leap Day this year is on a Saturday, so it's been perfect. On Sunday, the primary kids wished him happy birthday and he wore a suit to church. I didn't even know he had a suit in his closet! But he and Jonah looked so handsome!

For his birthday, I took him to Build-a-Bear because kids born on Leap Day got a free birthday bear. So we went and made his bear and picked out some clothes for the bear. The bear was free, the clothes were not. I don't think we'll do Build-a-Bear again because the experience just wasn't that great. I mean, the customer service and everything was all fine, but for the cost and how it's touted as a one-of-a-kind experience, it just wasn't all that. He named his bear Tony, after Tony Stark (Ironman). We made him a Captain America shield cake. He had a great birthday! I can't believe this little guy is four years old already! He is just getting so big!

A New Sport--Volleyball!

Eliza has decided to learn to play volleyball. I signed her up for a volleyball league that meets once a week for practice and starts games in one month. She has eight weeks of games. She is very excited and I'm excited for her to learn to play better under a real coach. The only experience she's had with volleyball was youth volleyball in the fall, which she loved. She wants to hone her skills so she can make the junior high volleyball team in the fall.

Valentine's Day

Another year, another Valentine's Day! This year, both Jonah and Annmarie got to make valentines boxes for their school parties.  Jonah decided to re-use his box from last year, which he made to be Bumblebee, the Transformer.  Annmarie made hers a princess castle.  You can see Rapunzel in the back tower window.  We had heart-shaped pancakes with strawberries and whip cream, bacon,  and strawberry milk for breakfast.

February Fun

Nathan hid in the shoe basket by the front door and told me to take a picture of him hiding in it. I went to school to eat lunch with Annmarie on her "day". On the date of the kids' birthdays every month, we try to have time with them doing something. Usually it's getting an ice cream cone or shake at Braum's. But with the elementary kids, we sometimes eat with them at school. This also happened to be Valentine's Day. Annmarie invited her friend Kamryn to eat with us. And the pie. I just had the ingredients to make cherry pie, so I did. I love cherry pie!
