Youth Conference

Youth Conference this year was local. The first day they did some ropes course. Caleb participated. Eliza did not because she was nervous about it. Travis did not get to go to the ropes course part because he had summer school for advancement (he's taking Spanish II in summer school so he can fit choir, football, and culinary all in his schedule next year). They also met up at the Shaffer stadium here in Wylie to do team building games. They had a service project of cleaning and planting at the temple grounds. They went to Hawaiian Falls as an activity. And they had a dance. It looked like a good time. I'm glad they posted pictures that I was able to pull off the youth conference website.  Included is also a picture of Eliza with the young women at temple baptisms the week before.

 

Gymnastics at Hawaiian Falls

The gymnastics that Annmarie goes to always has a summer party at Hawaiian Falls. We brought Elliott along for the fun. The other picture here is from a water play day that the girls had in the parking lot at gymnastics.

 

Haircut and Glasses

Annmarie decided to go super short with her hair when I took her in for a trim. She has always had such long hair, so this is really different. She also had been complaining during the school year of vision issues and it turns out that she needs glasses. It took a few weeks, but they finally came in and she is very cute in them!

 

Piano Recital

For Father's Day, we had a piano recital for the grandparents. I stopped taking outside students when Nathan started kindergarten but have continued teaching my own kids. Nathan only just started with the basics at the beginning of summer.  So we put on a recital to give them an opportunity to dress up and perform their music. And Nathan gave Corey a paper tie that he colored in primary. 

In-N-Out Picnic 2022

The In-N-Out picnice this year was at Epic Waters, an indoor water park. Corey has a bunch of youth from the ward (and a few from other wards) working for him and they were all there at the picnic. Caleb unfortunately had his tonsils out right before the picnic, so he did not come with us to the picnic. And of course, Westley is already gone on his mission.

 

Birthday Pool Party

The kids get a birthday party when they are in kindergarten (since they finally have their own friends) and then again when they turn eight. Annmarie didn't get one when she turned eight because of the pandemic and just things that made it not possible for her to have one, so we postponed it until she turned nine. Then, they turned six and nine in winter, but they wanted a swim party, so we postponed their birthday party until the summer. They each invited about three to four friends and we went to our neighborhood pool. It was simple and fun and they had a great time.

 

Gymnastics Team Banquet

Annmarie had her gymnastics team banquet and was able to dress up in a fancy dress. She had a great season and enjoyed competing on the team. We will continue with gymnastics as long as we are able to do it.
