Renaissance Festival and Swimming on Memorial Day

Caleb and I got to do something I've always wanted to do since moving back here, and that is go to Scarborough Renaissance Festival. I figured it was really up his alley with his interest in Dungeons and Dragons. I'm sure all the other kids would like it too, but it's pretty expensive. We got to watch a joust, eat some turkey legs, and check out all the cool shops.  We even bought a family crest to hand on our wall.  It was hot, but it was fun.

Upon returning from the festival, we went swimming at Aaron and Kaori's house and had some BBQ.  It was a great Memorial Day!

Caleb's High School Graduation

Caleb had his high school graduation at the Allen Events Center since his class was pretty big, like around 800 kids. Nana was able to come out for the graduation, which was great.  Grandpa and Grandma also came to the graduation. We only were allowed a certain number of tickets, so we left Jonah, Annmarie and Nathan at home.  He is done!  On to bigger and better things!

Caleb's First Day of School and Last Day of School

Here is Caleb on his first day of school at Silver Crest Elementary School and his teacher was Patti Zealley.  He went to Silver Crest from kindergarten through third grade.  In first grade, he had Bobbi Evans, same teacher that Westley had after we moved to Utah.  In second grade, he had Mrs. Leon.  I don't recall her first name.  And in third grade, he had Mrs. Burger.  Then our schools were realigned and the kids were moved to Foothills Elementary School, where his teacher was Mary Brown.  After one semester at Foothills, we moved to Texas and he attended Groves Elementary and had Chelsea Snell for the last half of that year.

In fifth and sixth grade he attended Draper Intermediate; seventh and eighth grade was Cooper Junior High.  He then attended Wylie High School for all four years of high school.

Last Day of School, Classroom Awards and Fourth Grade Graduation

Nathan earned a super reader award for the whole school year for first grade. He really is quite the reader and can read just about anything you put in front of him. He loved his teacher, Ms. Karli Roland.

Annmarie graduated from fourth grade, which here in Wylie ISD, that is the end of elementary school.  Looking at her difference between kindergarten and fourth grade is pretty fun.   She had the same teachers as Jonah, Mrs. CJ Scott and Mrs.Erin Bicknell.  Some of her good friends from her class have been Taylor Walker, Emmeline Hightower, and Kamryn Sharp. I did not get a picture of her with Madi Shumard, another of her good friends.

Seminary Graduation

Caleb graduated from seminary! It was fun to see everyone in the stake who graduated and what their plans are after high school. A lot of them are already going to be heading out on missions, including Caleb.  Also, the couple that Corey is pictured with are the Haralsons, David and Leslee.  They were in his ward in Palmdale.  Now they are in our stake  here in Texas.  Small world.

Orchestra Banquet, Gymnastics All Star Camp, Senior Open House

Eliza had her orchestra banquet from her freshman year. I went along for the dinner. She has a pretty nice group of friends in orchestra. I actually sat with them and was impressed with their conversation and that they were kind enough to include me. I hope it wasn't too embarrassing for her to have her mom there.

Jonah went to his gymnastics All Star camp in Denton. Maxxton Carr was there who used to be on his team but transferred to another gym mid-season due to coaching and owner changes at our gym.

We have so many graduating seniors in our ward this year that the moms got together and had an open house for them. There is Caleb, of course, then Jackson Hinckley, Eli Barch, Braden Gilbert, Bradley Fastnaught, Alora Loveless, and Chandler Blacker.  Elena Schlensker also graduated but she did  not attend the open house.

Caleb's Senior Walk

In Wylie ISD, we have a tradition where the seniors get to go back to their elementary schools and walk through the halls in the graduation caps and gowns.  It's supposed to show the kids the excitement of graduating high school to motivate them to get there.  Caleb only went to Groves for one semester in fourth grade after we moved here.  It was exciting for Annmarie and Nathan to see their big brother.  I got to see it too because I was at the school helping in the library.  They also had a senior reception in the library for seniors who attended Groves.

Concerts and Awards

As usual, the end of the year is full with one thing after another. Eliza and Travis had their final choir concert.  Eliza sang a solo, "Happy Girl" (Martina McBride) and sounded amazing.  Travis earned a letter jacket from choir as well.  Caleb earned an award for Honor Society for Engineering.  Annmarie had her final concert for Wylie Children's Chorus and  Jonah had his final Draper band concert.  Annmarie also had a voice recital through her voice teacher, Korrin Reese.  She sang "Tomorrow" from Annie.
