Freeze and Fun

We got our freeze a little early this year. The cold was predicted to come in overnight Friday the 23rd, so the school decided to postpone the musical for a week.  So when school got out Friday for the weekend, we pretty much knew it would be at least a three-day weekend.  It turned into six days.  We were off Monday through Thursday.  The crazy thing was that by Wednesday, we probably could have gone back, but a few of the schools' parking lots were a little icy.  The musical ended up getting canceled for opening night, which was unfortunate.  We spent our days at home beautifully though.  We played games and had fun with each other.  It was a nice break from reality.  Even Corey stayed home and didn't drive in to work, shifting his whole schedule a few days over.  Oh, and because of the cancellations, Corey and I were able to go to Katie Garrett's "The Price is Right" birthday party that she had on the  night that would have been the last night of the musical.

Ice Skating Escapades

I bought a Groupon back in November for ice skating at the Allen Ice Rink for really cheap, so we were able to use them over the Christmas break with everybody there. It was a lot of fun. It took some of us a while to get back into the swing of things. What a fun way to spend New Year's Day!

Free Slurpee Day

On July 11th, 7-Eleven gives out free slurpees.  We went to our nearest one and got our free slurpees.  Yum!

Independence Day Celebration

All we did for the Fourth of July this year was go to the fireworks on July 3rd at Founders Park in Wylie.  Travis was at work but the rest of us went.  We played Nertz while we waited for fireworks and walked around.  The show was actually decently long and had some great big ones.  I like having it so close by.

More Christmas Day Fun

Aunt Jamie got us a great gift for Christmas this year. She got us a subscription to Universal Yums, a company that sends a box out of treats from other countries on whatever plan you have.  The one she got us was for one a month for six months.  It was exciting to try some new treats and we had fun having a Wii tournament while trying out the treats.

Halloween Ward Trunk-or-Treat

Our ward had its annual Halloween activity. This was on a Friday night and it was combined with other wards.  We were all able to go this year.  Travis helped hand out candy and had fun playing with the little kids.  In the picture, he's having a light saber fight with Star Wars obsessed Matthew Felix.

Jonah, Annmarie and Nathan dressed up as BYU football: a coach, a player, and a cheerleader.  I used one of my old Bingham Uniforms to make the BYU uniform for Annmarie.  We made Nathan's jersey be Jake Retzlaff's jersey, who is the starting quarterback for BYU this season.

Eliza and her boyfriend Thorne dressed as a NY tourist and the Statue of Liberty and they looked pretty cute.

Deer Lakes Cabin

I found this great place in East Texas called Deer Lakes Cabin Resort, only a couple hours from where we live.  They have all these cabins of varying sizes and a whole range of activities to do.  We decided to book a couple days over fall break after Travis' fall break football game.  We stayed in the Sawmill House Cabin, which was perfect for us.

We kayaked on the small lake there.  We went horseback riding.  We went ATV-ing.  We played games and watched movies.  It was a great break from life and the weather was really nice.  I hope we can do it again.
