November Tidbits

Corey took the girls to the Father-Daughter campout. They did not stay the night due the fact that he had to work the next day and Annmarie had gymnastics.  

Westley's music program up at Snow put on a huge Veteran's concert with some amazing music and we were able to catch it on Youtube.  Band, orchestra, and choir all together!

And Jonah got a broom to stand on its end.  Pretty cool.

 

Thanksgiving 2021

Westley did not come home for Thanksgiving. With how packed airports are right now because things are coming back to life after COVID, plus the huge expense, we decided it would be better for him to stay in Utah and go to Thanksgiving with John and Allison. He said he had a pretty good time and the food was good but that he did miss us. 

We went to Adam and Eve's house for Thanksgiving.  Aaron and Kaori went to Utah and had Thanksgiving at John and Allison's, so Westley got to see them.  Paige was there with her new baby Wyatt.  Austin was on the road, not able to make it.  Eliza put the whipped cream on the chocolate cream pie using the cake decorator, so it was all fancy!

We played games after dinner.  It was a pretty good time and good food (and a lot of it!).  Thanksgiving is always a good day.

 

Nathan in Kindergarten

I pulled a bunch of pictures of Nathan at school off of his class' Facebook page. I'm not much of a photo-taker, so it is nice when I can find pictures other people have taken. He really likes his kindergarten teacher Mrs. Hetherington. She has been a good teacher for him. And he does so well in school.

 

School Veteran's Day Program

Annmarie's third grade did a Veteran's Day program at school. She invited Jake Russell who lives on our street and is in our ward. He was a paratrooper. She got to play the xylophone and she had a speaking part. It was a pretty good program. I like this music teacher better than the previous one. At least the music is all made by the kids and they aren't singing along with other kids on a recorded track like the previous music teacher had them do.

 

Now It's November!

Can't believe it's already November. This year is flying by so fast. Caleb had his last home football game for marching band.  I love all things marching band but this year has been a disappointment.  When Westley was in marching band, the kids not involved with the "competition band", now called "varsity band", still marched at games.  They all were in the stands and the competition band would do their show at home game halftimes.  But then the whole band would do the pregame show at each home game and they would do the pregame show at away games during halftime instead of the competition show.  That changed during Westley's senior year when all the kids marched in the competition show because of COVID.  I thought that this year, it would be like when Westley was a freshman and sophomore and Caleb would still actually march at games, but he never did.  He was only ever in the stands.  It was disappointing, and a waste of money.  I really hope he does the competition band next year.  He refused this year, even though he got into it.  He told the directors he didn't want to do it.  That was disappointing for me.  But this is Caleb's last football game of the year.  I hope next year is different!

Annmarie had her final gymnastics meet-North States.  She did well, placing fourth All Around in her age division.  Her third grade teacher, Ms. Graber, even came to her meet.  And so did Grandma and Grandpa.  I got a picture of her with Coach Jordan and Coach Ryan as well.

Corey's sabbatical ended.  He had four full weeks off work, plus the weekend before his sabbatical started and two days after it ended.  He grew out his facial hair because he usually has to shave every day for work.  He looks pretty good with some facial hair that's not stubble!

 

And I made this Thanksgiving/Christmas decoration at Super Saturday (the Christmas letters are on the other side of the blocks).  Jonah changed it from "Give Thanks" to "Give Thanos the stones," which made me laugh way too hard, so I had to document it.
