Groves Fun

During College Week, Annmarie represented BYU.  That was also the week they had Superhero Day, so those pictures were already posted. 

I also snagged the photo from when Nathan's class did morning announcements and he got to do it.  And they had 120th day of school this year instead of 100th day of school, so he dressed as an old man for that by adding glasses and wearing a vest.

 

Choir UIL and Wrestling Banquet

Choir UIL was this week.  I was able to watch Eliza's group perform at the competition, which was at the Performing Arts Center at Allen High School.  I did not get a chance to go to A'Cappella to hear Travis' choir sing.  Later that night was the wrestling banquet for Travis.  Corey and I both attended. 

 

Wylie ISD at the Meyerson

Wylie's varsity groups performed at the Meyerson again this year.  Eliza is in the 2nd level orchestra, which combines with the advanced orchestra for the Meyerson, so she got to play with the orchestra.  Travis is in A'Cappella, which is the varsity mixed choir, so he also got to sing at the Meyerson.  I love the Meyerson concert day; it's such a great day to experience these performing groups.

Celebrate the Arts, Baseball and Birds

Wylie ISD always puts on a Celebrate the Arts weekend where they have concerts given by the middle school music groups as well as a huge art show displayed at the high school. The parent orchestra got to participate in the concert this year, so I played my cello in it. Jonah's 6th grade band also performed. Nathan's baseball season started. He is on the Red Sox again, this time Corey is coaching his team. It will be a fun but super busy season. And we were invited to dinner at the Fastnaughts' house over the weekend. They have a pet bird, and Jonah got to experience letting it sit on his shoulder.

Award, Theatre, and and Concert

Annmarie got on the Principal's Honor Roll for the 3rd term of 4th grade. She is hoping to be on it all year. Eliza participated in a skit for her advanced theatre class and parents were invited to come watch (they were during the school day). She did a great job in her part. Kaori came with me to watch. And Annmarie had a choir concert with her 4th grade honor choir, or Wylie Children's Chorus, as they've named it. Eliza also participate in this choir while in 4th grade.

 

Jimmy John's Student of the Week

Nathan earned Jimmy John's student of the week. This is pretty exciting. Only one student in the whole school gets it each week. Jonah earned it once when he was at Groves. They earn it for being an exceptional student. We are proud of Nathan.

 

Nathan's First Grade Program

Nathan had his first grade program. His class (Roland) got to be the color yellow. His friend Nora Russell from our ward and our street is in his class. And he had a speaking part and got to play the xylophone.  He is such a smart kid!

 

Jonah and Annmarie Birthdays

Jonah turned twelve and Annmarie turned ten right after school started back up. Jonah requested an In-N-Out themed cake and Annmarie had pie. I also checked her out from school after lunch to take her to a pie place we found in Garland called Piefalootin'. They took her picture because it was her birthday and it was Pi(e) Day.

 

State Gymnastics Meet in Saginaw

Jonah had his state gymnastics meet at Saginaw High School in Saginaw, out by Fort Worth. Grandpa and Grandma even came to it. He did pretty well, placing in the top 4 in every event and All Around.  He had 2nd place on rings (10.4), 3rd place on High bar (9.6), 2nd place on Floor (10.7), and 2nd place All Around (59.3).  He also earned a spot in a special All star training camp that is taking place in May.

 

Wylie High Orchestra goes to Orlando

Eliza went with the orchestra to Orlando. They went to Disney World and Universal Studios, which included Harry Potter World. They got to do a Disney playing experience in the studio. A nice bonus was that the trip went into Spring Break and overlapped with Aaron and Kaori taking their family to Universal, so Eliza got to meet up with them in the park and spend some time with Maggie.

 

Start of March

March comes roaring in! Nathan and Annmarie had Superhero Day at school. Nathan was Captain America and Annmarie was Black Widow. 

I finally hung the school picture composites up on our bedroom wall.  I've been meaning to do it for a very long time. The only thing is that I plan on painting the room and was trying to wait until that happened but that is just not happening any time soon.  I did the name and birthdate on Caleb and Westley's because they have all the pictures filled in.  I think next year when I take them out to add the current picture, I will also add the names and birthdates to the rest.

I've included a picture of eating at In-N-Out for fun and also my fresh perm that I got.  The lady I found at the JC Penney in Allen did a great job.
