Nathan Turns Nine!

Nathan turned nine and we celebrated him with a Nerf Football cake.  I can't believe this is my baby's last year of single digits.  It's going too fast.

Church Winter Formal

Eliza went to the church Winter Formal with Jonathan Ewell.  The other kids in the group were Hailey Loveless and her date, Rylan Zeltner and Lizzie Russell, Caden Zeltner and Sarah Rigby, and Jared Rigby.  Travis did not go even though I tried to persuade him.  Eliza's group had pictures with Stefanie Zeltner and then we hosted a nice dinner for them at our house again.  We really enjoy hosting.

Eliza Opry

Eliza sang at the Wylie Opry again Valentine's weekend.  She always does a great job and we are proud of her for branching out with her singing.

Nathan School Stuff

I snagged yet another picture off the Third Grade Facebook page of Nathan and Mikiyas doing some work in class.  He, of course, had his school Valentines Party and Corey made an awesome Valentines box for him--Thor's hammer!

Empire Invitational, North Richland Hills

Annmarie had another meet. She actually did quite well with her scores, her personal best for the season on all events but floor. However, that doesn't always tranlate into placing at these meets and she ended up coming in 5th (9.05) on Beam, 7th tie (9.15) on Vault, 5th (9.2) on Bars, and 5th (36.475) in All Around. Her floor score was 9.075, which was still pretty good.

Utah Trip

I got to join Corey on one of his In-N-Out trips to Utah. Well, he flew out a day earlier than me because I got a cheaper flight the next day. I was able to join him at his hotel in South Jordan, right by the freeway at 10600 South. I was there for four days. The main purpose of the trip was to meet Alejandra's parents, who live in Lehi (she is living with them). They do not speak English, only Spanish, so that was an experience.

Corey evaluated the Riverton store the day before I got there, and he bumped into Clark Kellis, who we knew when he was seven, which was when we moved to Texas.  He is right in between Travis and Eliza--Travis' grade in school and Eliza's age group in church.

I flew right over Kennecott Copper Mine, which is out near where we lived.  I went to Village Baker to eat lunch one of the days.  Worth was there and gave me my lunch for free!  I also went up and saw Aunt Amy and my cousin Matt.  Amy and I went to see my cousin Noelle and her new baby Anna.  I also bumped into Worth and an old acquaintance from high school, Lisa (Bird) Evans, at Walmart while Amy and I were getting a baby gift for Noelle.  I had lunch with my old college roommate Jessica (Greenland) Read.  Corey, Westley, Alejandra, and I had breakfast with the Elders (Annaka) who were in our ward in Texas.  Their son Isaac just got home from his mission to Las Vegas.  He had left from our ward in Texas before his family moved back to Utah.  He worked for Corey.  I also went to see my friends Rachel Howells and Heather Belcher.  And I got to see my cousin Beth.  Right before I went back to the airport, I was able to spend a little extra time with Westley and visit Jordan's grave.  His grave is in the same section of the cemetery as President Monson, so we visited that grave also.

It was a nice getaway for me and Corey spent most of the time working.  We also went out with Spencer and Ralina Kellis for dinner one night, but I do not have a picture from that.

Texas Dynamix Winter Blast Meet

Corey and I drove separate cars to the football banquet so I could leave early and go to Annmarie's gymnastics meet at Texas Dynamix.  Kaori was kind enough to drive Annmarie to the meet and stay to watch because I did not want to miss the banquet.  Turns out that the gym that was hosting had moved in the last month to a new location and that address was not in google.  Kaori had driven Annmarie to the wrong location.  We managed to find the correct address and get Annmarie there just on time!

Annmarie had a better meet and was able to compete with her teammate, Mackenzie Benitez, who is Level 6.  She placed 3rd on Bars (8.55), 4th on Beam (8.65), 3rd tie on Floor (9.3) and 4th All Around (35.2).  I'm very proud of her!

Varsity Football Banquet

Corey, Travis, and I got to go to the varsity football banquet.  It was at Boyd Farms in Rockwall and a very nice venue.  We sat with the Shumards and the Gilberts and the athletes all sat with friends.
They recognized the seniors and played a fun slideshow that showed them when they were babies and young kids.  We are proud of Travis and his commitment to football all four years, even when it was hard.
