Six Months Old!

Nathan turned six months old!  Unfortunately for him, on his six month birthday, he got to have a minor surgery.  He was born with some abnormality that made it so we couldn't circumcise him until he was six months old.  So we took him in and the doctor fixed the abnormality while circumcising him at the same time.  Mostly he was grouchy for the rest of the day and another day but then fine after that.  He is such a cute, chunky boy!

Band Parade

That Wylie Band, the high school's band, did a fundraiser parade where they marched through the streets of the neighborhoods and collected coins.  We wanted to watch them march by, especially since we have band members in our own family, and it made for a fun Saturday morning activity.

First Day of School

First day of school for five of our kids this year. Jonah started kindergarten. He was quite nervous and that caused him to be in a bad mood and have some major meltdowns getting ready for school Hopefully this will fizzle out after a few weeks. Westley is in 8th grade, last year of junior high. Caleb is in 6th grade at the intermediate school. I don't think I explained that after we moved to Texas. Elementary school is grades K-4, then they have intermediate school as grades 5-6 and junior high is grades 7-8. High school then is 9-12. That is this district. It seems all the districts around here do it just a little differently. Travis is in fourth grade, Eliza is in third grade, and Jonah in kindergarten. I'm nervous because it's all day kindergarten and he has only had 2-1/2 hours of three days a week of preschool at home. He is smart enough, but he is rather shy and can have a hard time with change. So we will see how it goes.

In-N-Out Picnic

We had the yearly In-N-Out picnic in August the week before school started. It was at the Great Wolf Lodge again in Grapevine. We left Nathan with Aunt Paige for the day so we could relax a little more and enjoy our time. It is nice that the kids are getting older and can go off on their own for some of the time. They once again had a balloon artist. Always a good time, the In-N-Out picnics.

Horseback Riding Lessons

We got a Groupon for horseback riding lessons. It was for a one hour lesson where you learn to groom and get the horse ready for riding and then the lesson itself. We combined mine with Marianne's and then I bought one for our family and picked Caleb and Eliza to use it. I was pleased with how brave Eliza was because I was worried she would be afraid when she realized how big a horse was in person. But both the kids did really well. Marianne already had some experience and I did too, so it was an excellent review for us. I would someday love to own horses, or at least a horse. It was an enjoyable experience.

More Random Summer Fun

Nathan turned 5 months old at the end of July. Caleb cut his finger pretty badly with a Cutco knife on the same day that his new cousin Nozomi was born. Jonah made waffles for breakfast and Travis had fun playing with Nathan in the laundry hamper.  We babysat Adam and Eve's kids one day and Annmarie and Elliott had fun playing together.
