Model Trains

On Martin Luther King weekend, Westley and Alejandra drove down from Utah to start with some wedding planning and take care of some things with her trailer, which she moved out of over Thanksgiving break and up to Utah to be closer to Westley. While they were here, we went o a train show in Plano with Grandpa and Grandma. They had such cool model trains and it was fun looking at all the different ones.

LEGO Display at School and Assembly

Groves Elementary School has had a LEGO display for the last school year and they asked for new submissions after the break. Nathan decided that he should build a temple for the display. I love that he wanted to share something Gospel-oriented for it.

Also, they had the award assembly for the second term of school and Nathan once again made the A Honor Roll.

Wrestling Senior Night

Travis had Senior Night for wrestling.  I was able to join him for the processional as Corey wouldn't be home in time from where he was doing a store check.  We are proud of Travis' grit for sticking with it all four years even through injuries and disappointments.  This night was another one of those big lasts.  I'm grateful for the good coaches he's had at this school, especially in wrestling.

Friends of Achievers Gymnastics Meet

Annmarie had her first gymnastics meet of the season in Denton.  We braved the cold and fortunately had clear streets for the drive.  We left really early to be sure to get there on time, pending any bad roads or traffic, so we ended up getting there like an hour earlier than she needed to be there.  We hung out in the convention center where it was and had some hot chocolate.  Grandpa and Grandma even came to the meet.  Her highest score was on beam and bars, 8.85.  She placed 5th on bars and 6th All ARound.

It was fun to watch her new routines, as this year she is in optionals and has unique routines instead of the same as everyone else.  Her new coach is Jazz, and she seems to like her a lot.  She is really helping Annmarie improve.

Another Freeze

The freeze came early this year.  For the past few years, it seems like we've had the really cold, bad weather the first week of February, but this year it was the first week of January.  We had a snow day from school and I took the kids over to Adam and Eve's to play in the snow with cousins.

Start of the Year

Christmas Break has been busy.  We have some great neighbors down the street, Jeff and Stephanie Brown, and they are always having a ton of kids playing outside their house.  We have about five or six kids on our street that are in Nathan's grade as well, so it's a good group of kids.  Jonah and Annmarie often join the group to play.

Annmarie sang at the Opry the first weekend in January also.  She did amazing as usual.  She has no fear when performing; it's so great!  And she always starts on key, something that I do not do well at all.

Pretty much all of December and most of November was wet on the weekends, so the kids never got outside to pick up the dog poop as their Saturday chore.  Because of that, it really needed to be done, so we made all of them do it.  We made it a contest.  We gave them a time limit and told them it all had to be cleaned up and whoever's bag weighed the most would get a treat.  Well, the bags all weighed pretty close, so we just all went out to ice cream together.
