Football Season is Underway

Travis' JV football season is off to a good start. They have won all their games so far. He plays on the defensive line as a linebacker. He is number 84. Go Travis!

 

HOCO 2022

Amazingly enough, all three of the high school kids went to Homecoming with groups of kids rather than as dates. Travis turned sixteen the day before the dance.  We did not take any pictures of celebrating his birthday.  Whoops.  

Caleb went with a group of friends from church. They decided to get dressed up and do pictures, have dinner, go bowling and then hang out. 

 

Travis met up with friends of his to do pictures.  They ate at Whataburger and then went to the dance. He was able to talk Uncle Adam into letting him use Grandpa's yellow tux that he wore at his wedding reception.

Eliza went with a group of friends from church.  They got pictures done, had dinner, and went to the dance.  Afterward, they hung out with Caleb and his friends at the Loveless' house.

Fabulous Fall Fun

This week was HOCO week at the high schoo land there were dress up days.  It coincided with National Talk Like a Pirate day, and the Wylie High Pirates always have a dress up day for that.  So Eliza did her best to dress up like a pirate.  Nathan is doing fall baseball and loving it.  He is on the same team, the Red Sox.  Travis was a greeter at Groves again for the football team on Friday, the day of the Homecoming game.  We went to the game.  Annmarie had gymnastics so she didn't go.  We only have three season tickets this year because I wasn't sure how many people we'd have at the game regularly.  So Jonah got an extra one and sat a few rows back for this game.  Travis and Eliza get to sit in the student section. Annmarie had a gymnastics meet at Zenith on the same day as the Homecoming dance.  She only medaled on floor with a 9.0.  She did get a medal for All Around.

 

Flower Power District Qualifyer Meet at Golden Grip

The gym that Jonah is doing gymnastics at is called Golden Grip Gymnastics. They hosted a meet this fall. Since Jonah is on team, it's required for parents to help with the meet. I was able to sit at the judges' table for bars. That was very interesting and I learned a lot about judging. Annmarie's team competed in the meet, so some friends took these photos for me. She did not have her best meet and didn't place. But she did get a 9.0 on floor and still scored a 34.9 all around.The great thing was being able to look over the judge's notes on her bar routine.  The judge was kind enough to let me do that.

 

Parent Orchestra and Team King

The Wylie High orchestra teacher, Mr. Brian Coatney, started up a parent orchestra. The idea was for him to teach parents of orchestra kids the same instrument that their kids were playing so they got a feel for what it's like. However, when the message went out about it, it went to the whole district, so a lot of people joined. I already play the violin, so I chose to learn the cello. This will be a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to building a new skill. 

Also, the district had a dress-up day for your favorite sports team. We don't own any sports team paraphernalia, so some of the kids chose to be on "Team King" and wore our King reunion shirts instead.

 

Wylie Rodeo

We have lived in Wylie since December of 2014. They hold a rodeo every September and this was the first time I've been able to go. I took Eliza, Jonah, Annmarie and Nathan and we brought along Maggie as well.  Rodeos are so much fun.

 

First Week of September

The first week of September was busy as always. The high school football team came to Groves to be morning greeters, so I was able to snap a picture of Travis greeting Annmarie as I dropped her off.  

I finally made it to In-N-Out to get a picture of Travis working.  He started in July after we got home from the family reunion.  We found out on the way home from the reunion that he could start working there before turning sixteen, so he applied as soon as we got home.  Also, Labor Day was the 5th and the Otts Family in our ward stopped by In-N-Out while the kids were working and sent me these photos.

Eliza played church volleyball and our team won the tournament.

I spent more time with the horses at the Texas Therapeutic Riding Center.  This time I learned how to bridle a horse.
