Parent Orchestra Concert

This is Jenna's third year with the parent orchestra and the first concert always seems to be in December.  This year there are two orchestras again, a beginners and an advanced.  The advanced group has a trip to Chicago to a music clinic there.

I also had to include the picture of the junior class poster with the In-N-Out theme.  Very cute!

Looking Good and Kids Christmas Party

Everyone looked so nice on Sunday for church that I took some pictures.  After church, Corey and I went down with Annmarie and Nathan to the In-N-Out kids' Christmas party.  

Voice Recitals, Solar System Project, Ward Christmas Party

The super talented sisters Eliza and Annmarie each had their holiday voice recitals during the second week of December. We went straight from one to the other, which worked out well for us. Nathan had his solar system project that they have always done in third grade. He made his planets out of salt dough and painted them and then glued them to a canvas that he had painted with acrylic paint. It looked really good and he did the whole thing by himself. The youth were asked to participate in a musical number for the ward Christmas party, but the only ones willing were Eliza and Jonah, as well as Hailey Loveless, Caden Zeltner, and Austin Bach. The whole Christmas party was so well done, thanks to Katie Garrett who is over activities. And for once, we were able to go because it didn't conflict with the orchestra cluster concert and the In-N-Out party.

 

Parade and Birthdays

Sunday the 8th was Wylie's annual Christmas parade and tree lighting.  We have never gone, mostly because it always coincides with the First Presidency Christmas Devotional and it's on a Sunday.  But this year, varsity football was marching in the parade, so Travis was in it.  It was very cold that night.

We also celebrated Eliza and Corey's birthdays at dinner.  She turned 17 and he turned 46.  We have a busy week coming up, so that was the best time to do it.  We had cookie cake for Eliza and banana cream pie for Corey.

In-N-Out Christmas Party

Saturday evening was also the In-N-Out Christmas party for the Texas region. We are still able to go to these Christmas parties with Corey being QFC. It was pretty fun, and the food was good, as always. They had impersonators of famous performers, like Michael Jackson and Elvis. I was very tired though, so we left as soon as it was acceptable to do so.

 

The Week of Eliza

In addition to the choir concert, Eliza had other performances. On Friday the 6th, she performed with the orchestra at Groves Elementary School. I happened to be subbing, and that was pretty fun to be able to enjoy that. That night, she had a dance recital for the musical theatre dance class she has been taking this year for her PE credit. She did so awesome in that too! And then on Saturday, she had her orchestra cluster concert where the junior high/intermediate orchestras and the high school full orchestra all play, a lot of it is Christmas music. Friday the 6th was her birthday too, but we weren't able to celebrate it that night.

 

Christmas Concert

Eliza and Travis had their choir concert for Christmas. I have loved having the two of them in the same choir. They sang beautifully, as always. One concert down for the season!
