1) I have to have lotion, vaseline and water by my bed at night. I'm always dry, lips, feet, hands, and mouth, and am constantly rehydrating throughout the night.
2) I really have to be desperate to truly want fast food. It's really not something I like at all. I'd much prefer to have a good home-cooked meal with all the food groups. My stomach doesn't usually hurt after that kind of meal.
3) I secretly like to shop, as long as I don't feel like I'm spending very much money. Since I learned how to bargain shop better, it's become a hobby. Yet I still don't really have the money to do it.
4) I am a very clean person. It's second nature. I go around picking up after the kids all day and don't even realize I'm doing it. I just like things to be clean. And I like to clean, to me it's very gratifying to make something that was dirty before clean. Sometimes when I go into people's homes that aren't so clean, I just wish I had my stuff with me so I could really make their house sparkle.
5) I am always falling asleep. That's because I have four kids under the age of six and am always tired. If I sit down on the couch for a breather, I fall asleep, even if I don't want to. I can't help myself.
6) I love country music. It speaks to my soul. I listen to it every time I'm in the car (the only time I really ever listen to music). I'm sure my kids will grow up hating it, and my husband tolerates it, but I love it.

Baby Girl (Big Girl!)
Eliza is walking! Completely full-on walking! She actually started walking on November 2nd, taking steps between people and objects, but now she toddles all around the whole house. It's so much fun. And the first time she really stood up on her own and started taking steps, she walked right over to Travis and gave him a hug!

Trick-or-Treat!
On Saturday before Halloween, our ward had a big Halloween carnival in the parking lot at the church. There was all sorts of food (burgers, hot dogs, chips, etc) and treats (snow cones, cotton candy, etc). They had a bunch of carnival-type games as well as several of those bouncy house things set up. That all started at 3:30. We didn't get there until about 4:30. Then at dusk, about 5:30, they had a trunk-or-treat. The boys loved it. Travis, who was Charlie Brown, actually spilled red snow cone all down the front of his costume, so at the trunk-or-treat, he was actually just wearing regular clothes. Luckily, the stain came out, so he could wear the costume for Halloween. Here we are, all dressed up: Caleb (Superman), Westley (cowboy), Travis (Charlie Brown), me (witch) and Eliza (Tinkerbell).
We finally carved a pumpkin for Halloween this year! Corey is not big into Halloween, and since he's usually very busy with work right around it, and often on it, we haven't done one in the past. But this year we decided to, and the boys were so excited. Every aspect of it they were in awe of. They were disgusted by the inside of the pumpkin, when we had to scoop out all the seeds and stuff. But they climbed all over Corey as he carved and followed him out to the front porch in a little line when we went to set it out there. It was cute to watch how excited they were about it. Westley drew the face on the pumpkin that Corey carved out. He had even practiced beforehand on paper several times to get it just right. Unfortunately, we didn't take a picture of the pumpkin after the carving, and now it is all moldy and in the yard waste bin.
Halloween night was fun. We waited until Daddy came home from work. I had made chili in the crockpot and some cornbread for dinner. We put Eliza down first, and then Corey and I took the boys around the block trick-or-treating. They were really excited, but I always forget between years how impossible 2-year-olds are on something like this. They insist on walking themselves, but are so slow that you can barely stand it. Then Travis would try to go into the people's houses, or ask for more candy, and then he would stand on the porch for a minute or two examining his candy bag after each time. But they had fun, and after one block, we were done! We came home, they each had a piece of candy and went to bed, and then the grown-ups all enjoyed some apple pie!

Riding My Bike
Westley is riding his bike by himself with no training wheels! It only took one afternoon of Corey practicing it with him to get it down. I guess he was just ready.
Caleb's Birthday Follow-up
It took us this long to upload pictures, but I wanted to tell about Caleb's birthday. On his actual birthday, I made animal pancakes for breakfast, mostly teddy bears and monkeys. After lunch and naps, we had some friends over to play. That was about all we did ON his birthday. The night before, we had gone to the pre-opening party for the Casa Grande In-N-Out, and Aunt Jamie gave Caleb a cool Spider-man punching bag for his birthday. He was able to play with that on Thursday, although Eliza is terrified of it, so they don't really play with it too much right now.
We finally celebrated his birthday on Saturday, the 18th. We had a big lunch, chicken and mashed potatoes, if I remember correctly, which Grandma made. After the big lunch, we had cake and ice cream. I made a cake in the shape of a tree and put on Whoppers for coconuts and then used the little plastic monkeys from Barrel of Monkeys to decorate it. He had requested a monkey cake, and that was a simple way to fill that request.
After cake and ice cream, we did presents. He got a Lightning McQueen car set, a plastic tool set, the Barrel of Monkeys that the monkeys for his cake came out of, and an engine for our Thomas the Train track set we have. Now each of the boys has their own engine, so that has cut down on the fights a lot while playing with the train tracks. We had a really fun day. And the boys have loved playing with all the toys.

Heads Carolina, Tails California!
Okay, so we didn't flip a coin, but we did go to California from October 10th-12th. It was a quick round trip. I finally decided to write about it, even though we don't have very many pictures. Or very many good ones, is a better way to put it.
On Friday, the 10th, we left early in the morning, at about 6:45 a.m. We made one stop at Ehrenberg at about 9:30 for gas (which we didn't really need, we just topped off our tank). Ehrenberg is right near the CA-AZ border on I-10. Then we drove on until we saw a rest stop about an hour later and stopped for lunch. We had sandwiches and then kept chugging along to Sun City, a suburb in the San Diego area. We stayed with some friends of Corey's from long ago: Noah and Melissa Bostwick. They have two boys who are right in between Westley, Caleb and Travis. The boys all played well together and had a blast running around. We enjoyed the evening chatting and hanging out.

On Saturday morning, we left the Bostwicks' and proceeded to San Marcos where we were going to visit with Corey's grandparents and aunt and uncle. However, G.G. (Grandma) had a fainting spell, or near-fainting spell, at the beauty college where she was having her hair done, so they called 911 and took her to the nearby ER, where she ended up spending that day and the next. Grandpa Bobby went with her, and Heather and Wally were there on and off. So, after driving around Oceanside and Vista so Corey could revisit his old haunts, we drove over to the hospital and visited with G.G. and Bobby. Not exactly the visit we had pictured. After an hour there, we headed up to Hesperia to spend the rest of the weekend with Nana (Corey's mom). We stopped at the Mormon Rocks Fire Station along the way, where Uncle Zach works/ed and the boys got to ride in the fire engine and try on the gear.

Then we got back on the road and drove the 20 minutes or so to Nana's house, where it was freezing cold (it was cold at the station too). We had forgotten to grab the sweatshirts on our way out the door Friday morning in AZ (where it was still up in the low 100's during the day), and we only had shorts and T-shirts, and the boys didn't even have socks! So Nana and Corey took Westley and Felicity (cousin) to the store and bought sweats for all our kids, which they put on promptly upon their return. We ate dinner with them for Caleb's birthday (Leslie, Felicity and Savannah were there for dinner) and then we put our kids in bed. Leslie and Zach and their little family headed into Palmdale for a visit with Zach's family overnight.

We made it back to Mesa by 8 pm, with one stop at Ehrenberg to use the bathroom and one stop at In-N-Out in Tempe for dinner. The kids slept a lot of the way home, they were very tired from the trip, and Corey and I listened to the John Lund CD that my parents gave us for Christmas about the marriage relationship. Great stuff.
Fun weekend. Hope that we get to CA again soon.

The Trick to Picky Eaters
Find something they'll eat. I'm not talking food, though. I'm talking putting the food, whatever it is, in the shape of something they want to eat.
This is a "Mater" sandwich, you know the character from Disney's Cars. This was the first sandwich that Travis had eaten in about 3 weeks and the first lunch meal he'd eaten in about 2. He went through about 2-3 weeks where all he ate was breakfast and then nothing else the rest of the day. When I presented him with this, he ate the whole thing. So I did it again the next few days, and every day, he ate it all. But then I got tired of doing it, so now I vary it up. Sometimes it's a butterfly, or a train, or a semi. But he always eats all or most of the sandwich when it's cut into a shape.
