Broken Finger

Travis broke his finger.  He and Corey were goofing around after school on Friday, playing football.  Apparently, Travis caught it wrong and hurt his finger.  We both thought it was jammed.  But then, on Monday, he was still complaining about it hurting.  It was really swollen and he couldn't move it.  So I decided to spend $20 on a copay and take him to the children's urgent care Monday night.  We came to find out that it was a broken finger, broken near the first knuckle.  If he didn't get it taken care of, it could have twisted and caused irreparable damage.  Thankfully, we got it X-rayed at the urgent care and then took him to a pediatric orthopedist the next day, who casted it.  He has to have his cast on for one month. 

Westley's First Solo Flight and Honor Roll

Westley got to fly out to California to visit Aunt Jamie and Nana over the weekend before Thanksgiving.  I waited at the airport with him and made sure he got on the right flight.  He was met at the airport in California by Nana and Jamie. He had a great time and I'm glad he was able to go.  While he was gone, we came home from being out to this sign in our front yard.  He made the honor roll!  I'm not sure how that happened, but still, it's great to see!

Hot Chocolate at In-N-Out!

Whenever we go to In-N-Out, our kids march to the doors and through them like they own the place.  And this week, In-N-Out started serving hot chocolate.  It's delicious!  Oh, and the hand is just because I love toddler hands and he had it on the table and was holding it still for a minute.

Another Paint Night

I saw an ad for one of those painting places for this painting of the nativity.  I decided suddenly that I really wanted to do it, so I asked Eve if she would come with me.  Then I realized that it would cost $55, and I thought we could probably paint it ourselves and spend less than that on supplies.  So we bought some canvases and some paint and we worked together to paint it at her house.  It was a fun girls' night and we enjoyed painting together. 

Crayon Dump

Every year when I purchase supplies for preschool, I purchase extra crayons to disperse throughout the year.  I had all of these crayons in one of my drawers, stowed away to pull out when somebody's crayons were wearing out.  I was planning on passing out a new box right before Christmas.  Well, Nathan found the crayons when I was busy teaching piano lessons this week and now all of the new crayons have been dumped on the floor and their boxes torn up.  What a pain!

Fun Times in the King House

These cute kids are just growing up so quickly. I had to capture some of their moments.  Nathan is getting close to turning two and the terrible twos are already upon us.  Here he is throwing a tantrum over sitting in his high chair.  I'm not sure if the tantrum is because he wants to sit in it and can't get up by himself or doesn't want to sit it in.   Sometimes these things just aren't clear. 

Jonah (and all of the older kids too) makes his lunch for school the night before.  That's because he's such a slowpoke in the morning getting ready for school.  He pretty much has to make his lunch the night before or he doesn't have time to get dressed, eat, make a lunch, brush teeth, put shoes on and go.  It's always a battle getting him out the door in the morning.

Annmarie is wearing a fun Veteran's Day hat we made in preschool.  We had a Veteran's Day parade and talked about what a Veteran is.  She can be a challenge in preschool because she has such a busy and inquisitive personality (plus she's kind of a queen bee, which is something I'm working on toning down) but she is learning a lot.

Tennis Time

We got together with Aaron and Kaori and their kids to play tennis. They had some tennis equipment and I wanted my kids to try out tennis, thinking that maybe it could be a fun activity for one or two of them to learn.  We went to the courts at Wylie East High School, over by where Aaron and Kaori live.  The ball went over the fence into the locked courts a couple of times, so Travis climbed the fence for us to get the balls. He is a really good climber. 

We had fun, but the best part was at the end.  We were walking to the car and a bee attacked us.  Like it completely chased us around and hovered around our car, not letting us in.  We were running around the parking lot and screaming and Aaron and Kaori came over to check it out.  The bee chased them away and then came back for us.  We finally managed to get into the car and then the bee chased our car out of the parking lot.  It was crazy!
