Bringing Westley Home from Snow

Right after school got back in for the kids, Westley flew back up to Utah. We had originally booked him a flight back thinking he'd go for a second semester at Snow College. But he ended up choosing to stay home to work and put his papers in for a mission. So he had to bring his things home. He spent a few days with Ruthie before her semester would start. I drove up with Eve so that Westley and I could bring his things home. Eve had her own flight home. We stayed with John and Allison while we were there. We even had a Fellows get-together with those who were in Utah and could make it. Of course, COVID still has control over so many social gatherings and some people didn't come because of that. Westley and I then drove home, stopping in Albuquerque for the night.

Westley at Snow

Westley finished his first semester at Snow College. He met Ruthie, he learned a lot about living on his own, and he had a successful semester. He spent time with his cousins in Provo a few times (Hannah and Christine). He had some adventures that helped him grow. He will be coming home to work while he gets ready for his mission. Ruthie is going on a mission also. He really had a great first term and looks forward to going back after his mission. And we'll be glad to have him home!

Westley Leaves for College!

We finally were able to figure out how paying for college would work for Westley, so he packed up and headed up to Utah to go to Snow College.  I got a picture with everyone who was home when he left.  He had to get some major repairs done on his truck to make it to Utah and then he went on his own.  I booked him some hotels along the way and he checked in a few times a day so I knew he was getting along. When he got there, my cousin Andy helped him move in to his apartment.  Such an exciting time!

Westley and Eliza

Westley has chosen Snow College to pursue his degree after high school. He went up to Snow this week to audition for a music scholarship. He is very excited about going to Snow. It is going to be a little hard because he is out-of-state and the tuition for out-of-state students is really high. But we've found that compared with Texas universities, it's actually less than the in-state tuition for those. Crossing our fingers that he gets the scholarship and that it helps with tuition.

Eliza required a black dress for choir.  The school wouldn't hand out the black dresses they usually use for choir because of covid.  So the students were told to purchase one.  I decided to make one instead.  The pattern I used was a little juvenile for her.  I guess I need more sophisticated patterns now that she's an official teenager!
