Visit from Leah

My 14-year-old niece Leah came to Texas to visit.  She stayed with my brother down in Sachse, but we got to spend some time with her playing games and eating at In-N-Out.

Self Hair Cut

Annmarie chopped a huge chunk out of the front of her hair.  At least it sort of looks like bangs.  I hope it doesn't take too long to grow out.

Girl Scout Treasure Hollow Day Camp

I signed Eliza up for Girl Scouts, thinking it could be a good way for her to make some new friends and learn some new things.  Unfortunately, she hasn't been assigned a troop yet even though I signed her up in March..  But I went ahead and signed her up for a day camp that went the whole week the first week of summer.  She didn't know anyone, but was so brave going there and meeting new people and learning some new things.  We decorated her bucket that she took to keep her stuff in and sit on.

Summer Starts!

We celebrated the last day of school by getting shaved ice from Luana's, a shaved ice stand owned by someone in our ward.

Later, the HOA put on a pool party to celebrate the opening of the pool and the beginning of summer.

As always, I am so ready for summer.  I love it when school gets out and we don't have to get up early or make lunches the night before and especially NO HOMEWORK!

Of course, I always design a summer learning program to keep them thinking and learning so they retain what they've learned.  But it's much more laid back than the routine during the school year.

Yard Work Day

We have had a lot of rain this year, and even snow. This Saturday was one of the first with nice enough weather to do some yard work.

Twelve Years Old and a Deacon!

Westley turned twelve this week.  Grandparents came out for his ordination to the priesthood as a deacon.  He was so excited to be able to pass the Sacrament.

Also, he got to have a birthday party.  They mostly just played some video games and had a dart gun war.  They made their own mini pizzas for lunch.

Fourth Grade Track Meet

Caleb got to participate in a district-wide track meet with all of the fourth graders in Wylie School District.  He ran the 100 meter and did shot put.
