Senior Walk

Every year, our district does a "Senior Walk" where the graduating seniors return to their elementary schools and walk through the halls in their cap and gown.  Westley did not go to elementary school here, but since Jonah and Annmarie are at Groves and that's where he would have gone had we moved here a few years earlier, he chose to walk the halls of Groves. Fortunately, several of his friends did go to Groves and they walked the halls with him.

Preschool Heard Museum Field Trip and Graduation

Travis didn't have school on the day my preschool did their Heard Museum field trip, so I brought him along as an extra chaperone.  Brock and Nozomi just adore him.  I had a total of five kids in my class this year, including Nathan, Nozomi and Brock.  The other two, Clark and Nora, are in our ward.  Travis was a big help to me on the field trip.

Cooper Choir and Final Band Concert

May is always a busy month with end-of-year concerts.  Even with covid19, we were able to have concerts.  Cooper concerts were all held in the gym...again not sure why the gym is better than the auditorium.  Travis and Eliza were both in choir and they were both in the concert.  Eliza even played her violin in the concert.

And Westley had his final band concert of high school.  It's a little sad to see this part of high school end for him but he will be going to Snow College and continuing with music there.  This was the last concert that Westley and Caleb would be in together.

Interesting enough, the band was able to have their concert at the Baptist church.  I really don't understand the weird covid rules.

Westley's Birthday and Band Gala

Westley turned eighteen on May 8th!  That was also the night of the Band Gala.  He and Caleb have done band so they went.  We went to the Gala as well.  Usually it's a dinner, but because of covid19, no dinner, only snack food (what's the difference?) and it was held in the IMPAC building, which gets really warm.  Not sure what the difference is between the IMPAC and the cafeteria in terms of being safer from covid19, but it is what it is.  We only managed to snap one photo of Caleb and Westley together.

May Happenings

Willy needed updated shots so we took him to the Wylie Animal Shelter vaccine clinic.  It was really hot and we had to wait outside.

Nathan doesn't eat much, so we made him a chart to help him eat.  Every time he finishes a meal, he gets a sticker.  After a whole row, he will get a reward.

Nathan is learning to do chores.  One of the chores he can do is rinse dishes to put them in the dishwasher.  He also can clear out the dishwasher.

Because of covid19, the schools had everyone who was not testing do school from home.  Jonah and Annmarie were STAAR testing, but all the other kids were home, so we went to Cotton Patch for lunch.

Travis reads Nathan a bedtime story.

Westley With Guitar

Westley didn't get any senior pictures with his guitar when he did them with Lydia, so he set up a session with Aunt Kaori and got some.  He says they will be his album cover.

Family Pictures 2021

Because of the Pandemic, we missed family pictures in 2020.  I would always get them right around Christmas. I thought that by waiting until then, things would ease up and we'd be able to get them done.  I was able to get some pictures of Nathan and even Westley done at JC Penney even.  But JC Penney put a six-person limit to group size  due to "social distancing" so we couldn't get them done at JC Penney.  I kept waiting for that restriction to ease up.  But by March I realized I probably needed to get someone else to take family pictures.  So we did the outside in a field thing.  We were supposed to do it earlier with the bluebonnets, something we still haven't done living in Texas, but each day we had the time scheduled, there was bad weather so we had to reschedule and by the time we could actually do it, the bluebonnets were gone.  Lydia Shumard did our family photos.
